We pride ourselves with having a strong focus on creating individual pathways to success for all students through student enrichment programs such as Life Labs, the Waterloo Career Center, Success Street, and more. Our goal is to provide students with the support they need to work toward their dreams. Whether they’re looking to continue their education or find a fulfilling career after graduation, our goal with every student is to provide them with a diploma and a plan.

The center exposes students to a variety of career paths offering internships, apprenticeships, free college credit, and more.

Waterloo Schools proudly announces the appointment of Abby Norgren as the new principal of Kingsley Elementary School, effective July 1, 2025. Pending approval by the Waterloo Schools Board of Directors, Norgren will succeed Jana Elliott, who will transition to Head Principal of Irving Elementary on the same date.
.
Norgren brings nine years of experience within the district, most recently serving as lead teacher at Fred Becker Elementary School since 2022. Prior to this leadership role, she taught literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL) at Bunger Middle School for six years. Before joining Waterloo Schools, Norgren taught fifth grade at the American International School in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from 2013 to 2016.

.
Dr. Jared Smith, Superintendent of Waterloo Schools, expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment, stating, “Abby is a dedicated educator with a genuine passion for helping students succeed. 🚀✨ Infinite Possibilities: Meet Kaden! ✨🚀
Kaden, a kind and quiet kindergartener at Kittrell Elementary, is special just by being himself! 💙 He’s proud of his hearing aids, just like his big brother, Anton—even if he’s down to one right now (oops! 😆). The best part? Everyone treats him the same, which he thinks is pretty cool!
.
Having Anton at Kittrell made starting kindergarten a lot easier, but Kaden is ready to be a leader when his brother heads to middle school. "I'll be a big first grader then, too!"
.
Kaden loves everything about school, but recess is the BEST—he's always running around! His favorite subject? Math! ST Math and JiJi the penguin make learning feel like a game, which is awesome! 🐧
.
His big dream? Becoming an astronaut so he can visit the stars! 🌟🚀
.
Every day, Kaden walks into Kittrell excited to learn new things—because Kittrell is a fun place to grow, explore, and shine! ✨💙
.
Keep dreaming big, Kaden! Your future is limitless! 🚀🌟 #InfinitePossibilities #KittrellProud #FutureAstronaut ... See MoreSee Less

⭐Infinite Possibilities: Jamie Nelson – A Legacy of Learning and Laughter ⭐
For over 38 years, Jamie Nelson has dedicated her career to education, shaping young minds with passion and care. As a 5th-grade teacher at Kittrell Elementary, she sees the classroom as more than just a place to teach—it’s a place to connect, inspire, and create a home away from
home.
.
“Everyone is a positive addition to the universe! My job is to teach students so they will be a success both academically and socially. I want them to trust me and understand that I care and will help them always.”
.
Jamie’s love🧡 for learning began early and continues to fuel her teaching. She keeps lessons fresh and exciting, knowing that when students laugh and feel engaged, they thrive. Morning Meetings have become a favorite way to build relationships and create moments of joy.
.
For Jamie, Kittrell is family. The support among staff and students makes it a special place, where every student is valued and encouraged. She embraces daily challenges with flexibility and grace, the very word she uses to describe herself. “I won’t let problems get in the way of my ability to care, trust, and love.”
.
Her favorite Kittrell memory? The day a squirrel unexpectedly became part of her lesson plan! As it scampered across students' desks, the class sat frozen in time. Once their surprise visitor left, they turned the experience into a writing lesson—creating stories about the day the squirrel came to school!
.
Every day, Jamie Nelson hits the floor running, ready to bring creativity, fun, and dedication to her classroom. More than teaching lessons, she’s helping students grow into confident, capable, and kind individuals—and that’s what makes education truly special. 🎊

🌟 Infinite Possibilities: Meet Mia! 🌟
.
Mia, a 4th grader at Kittrell Elementary, is an awesome leader who always tries her best and listens in class! 🎓✨ She’s outgoing with friends but can also be a little quiet—especially when she’s focused on her favorite hobbies: basketball, drawing, and spending time with her baby sister! 🏀🎨👶
.
Mia loves reading graphic novels and writing. If she wrote a book about herself, it would be filled with her favorite things—basketball, drawing anime, and her love for her sister! 💕📚
.
At recess, you can find Mia playing tag with her friends, and she’s excited for warm weather! ☀️ Her favorite class? Art! She had a blast creating clay creatures, including a silly blue monster—her favorite color! 💙👹
.
Mia’s dream job is to become a veterinarian so she can help sick animals feel better—especially dogs like her own pup, Ginger! 🐶🩺
.
And one of the best things about Kittrell? "When you walk in, you just feel happy. It’s a good place to learn!" 😊💙
.
Mia, your kind heart, creativity, and determination make Kittrell a better place! Keep reaching for your infinite possibilities! 🌟✨ #KittrellProud #InfinitePossibilities #MiaTheLeader ... See MoreSee Less
