Somer Ruiz, Special Ed para, Poyner
Mrs. Ruiz is amazing! She’ll do anything for her students! She is the kind of person who needs to be busy and boy does she keep herself busy! Not only is she a special needs para, but she also helps with our newcomer families. She jumped in to help translate for our influx of Spanish-speaking students and families, providing that person and safe place. She takes time from her lunch break to check in on students from other grades, waits in front of the building to greet students and staff, and assists with translating transportation procedures.
A great example of Mrs. Ruiz showing BOLD behavior was the first day of school when she waited at the bus stop for our ELL students. She saw in the distance that they were getting dropped off at the wrong stop and drove the parents to where their students were.
Mrs. Ruiz is a wonderful asset to the Poyner community! Thank you for all you do for ALL of our students and families!
