Stephanie Carlson, Math Coach, Becker
Our math coach, Stephanie Carlson, has been an incredible leader, teammate, and cheerleader to our students and staff. She entered the 23-24 school year with the intention of building on last year’s success by helping our teachers grow their content knowledge.
However, unexpected staff absences presented a unique opportunity for her to support our 5th grade students directly. Since the fall semester, she has taken on the responsibility of teaching the math core block in 5th grade. As their guest teacher, she introduced goal setting to our students. Seeing their faces light up as they have met their goals has been a joy for all to watch, and they routinely celebrate the academic outcomes of their hard work in the math classroom.
Although her focus has been mostly on these students, she has continued to coach our teachers in other grades by supporting their learning, planning, instruction, and assessment. She works tirelessly to meet the needs of so many people and does it with a smile on her face each day. We are so lucky to have Stephanie at Becker. Thank you for being BOLD!
