WATERLOO— On Monday, Oct 10, 2022, CompTIA announced that Jeff Frost, Waterloo Schools’ executive director of professional technical education, was appointed to CompTIA’s National Advisory Council for Career and Technical Education. Composed of five members from each state, the goal of the council is to advocate for career and technical education (CTE) for everyone, everywhere, in an ever-changing workforce.
In their press release, CompTIA says, “Recognizing CTE is critical to our post-pandemic recovery, we aim to build a diverse, future-ready workforce with the right technical and employability skills needed for economic growth.”
According to Frost, he was nominated to the council by Jeff Fletcher at the Iowa Department of Education.
“This committee is truly composed of some of the best and brightest in the area of CTE, hence my surprise to be nominated,” said Frost. “I am going to be able to tap into this group’s brilliant minds and glean information that will be useful in Waterloo. To stay current and relevant is always our goal and this group is composed of the outside-the-box thinkers and the ones that are creating the next generation of the best of the best in the field.”
The council consists of CTE teachers, directors, professors, career advisors, school counselors, representatives of the State department of education, commissioners, superintendents, principals, deans, and national PTA members from across the nation.
“Jeff is one of the beacons – a true leader – in the state and region when it comes to career and technical education,” said Dr. Jared Smith, Waterloo Schools’ superintendent. “We’re not only lucky to have him in our district and community, we’re lucky to have him represent the future of education in the state of Iowa.”
