LOCATION: WATERLOO COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION BUILDING – BOARD ROOM, 1516 WASHINGTON ST., WATERLOO, IA 50702
Sealed proposals for the above project will be received, publicly opened and read aloud at the time and location stated above by the Board of Directors of WATERLOO SCHOOLS.
This District includes all or part of the following Iowa Counties: BLACK HAWK.
Electronic sets of the plans and specifications and other contract documents will be available for inspection before end of day March 6, 2025, and printed sets for Contractors/Suppliers can be ordered through the office of Rapids Reproductions, by logging on to Rapidsrepro.com/plan-room or calling 1-800-383-1223, upon the deposit of $200.00. The deposit will be refunded to prime contractors who submit bids upon the return of the documents within seven (7) days after the receipt of the bids.
Bidders are encouraged to use electronic files and electronic downloads. Due to the large size of this set of documents, paper sets will be printed upon request only and will not be available as quickly as electronic sets. Bidders are encouraged to review the electronic documents prior to ordering printed sets. Partial printed sets will not be issued under any circumstances.
A single proposal will be received for the work. The General Contractor will submit a bid that includes the work of the Mechanical Subcontractor (Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning and Ventilating), the work of the Electrical Subcontractor and all other subcontractors of construction trades required to provide the scope of work defined in the bid documents.
The Waterloo High School project repurposes and expands the existing Central Middle School and Waterloo Career Center Building to serve as the sole High School building for the Waterloo Community School District. The project includes renovation and new construction. Distinct additions will be located on the south and the northeast sides of the existing building. The work includes classrooms, offices, gym and locker rooms, a food service kitchen, student commons, auditorium renovation and new auditorium construction. The project also includes new parking areas and drive lanes, athletic fields, roofing, stormwater management, utility changes and upgrades in addition to required technology, mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems.
Award of the contract shall be to the lowest responsible bidder based on base bid and selected alternates and in conformance to the Bidding Documents prepared by INVISION Architecture.
A PRE-BID CONFERENCE for this project will be held on MARCH 11, 2025 at 3:30 p.m. at Waterloo Career Center, 1348 Katoski Drive, Waterloo, Iowa.
Each proposal must be accompanied by a bid bond, cash deposit, Cashier’s Check or a Certified Check on a solvent Bank chartered under the laws of the United States in the amount of less than 5% of the proposal submitted therewith.
Bid Security shall be made payable to the Treasurer of WATERLOO SCHOOLS.
Should the successful bidder fail or neglect to furnish a satisfactory surety bond, refuse to enter into contract on the basis of the bid, or fail to meet the requirements of this Notice and the specifications regulating the award, the bidder’s security may be retained as liquidated damages. No bidder may withdraw the proposal for a period of thirty calendar (30) days after the date and hour set for opening of bids. The work under the Contract shall be commenced immediately after execution of the Owner-Contractor Agreement and substantially completed by a mutually agreed upon date, all as set forth in contractual documents.
By virtue of statutory authority, the Contractor shall give preference to Iowa Domestic Labor, products and provisions grown, and coal produced within the State of Iowa, according to the provisions of Chapter 73, Code of Iowa 2016.
The right to reject any or all bids and to waive any irregularities therein is reserved by WATERLOO SCHOOLS.
