Headstart Performance Standards

Headstart Performance Standards are the mandatory regulations that provide the structure for implementing, monitoring and enforcing quality standards. Headstart Program Performance Standard CFR 1304.21 outlines the provisions necessary for a safe and nurturing learning environment for young children.   The experiences provided by the Headstart program support the children’s growth and development, including the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of each child.  CFR 1304.20 addresses the determination of a child’s health status and the collaborative effort with families and health professionasl to provide the on-going care of all basic health needs of the children.
